What?
Weak connections are really not all that weak. Network theory research has been long preoccupied with weak ties, which in every human society act as the primary glue holding disparate networks together. These loose, informal connections are, in most cases, maintained and operated by women, who sustain and manage these bridging connections. Without these essential binding agents, the whole society would weaken and disintegrate.
How?
The Women’s Webs project serves the continuously expanding circle of female members of the SmallWorld Foundation. Its primary form is to provide a home for various self-organizing women’s circles, support their activities, and most importantly: connect them with each other so they can help each other on a basis of solidarity and reciprocity.
Our first active group is the Eco-Circle of District 7 in Budapest, where the group exchanged everyday practices and tips for environmentally conscious, sustainable households through the training materials provided by the Association of Conscious Consumers.
